The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) organized an education course on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) for Meteorological Services at the RCT Korea in Seoul from 14 to 17 April, in which 19 people from 11 NMHSs in Asia and Africa participated.

The course was designed to strengthen the capabilities of developing countries in the field of data collection and exchange, data quality control and numerical prediction models.

As part of the Global Capacity Building Program by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), it has been held every year since 2007 in cooperation with the KMA.

"The KMA´s development in weather services building on the advanced ICT can be a good example for developing countries. It is expected ICT advancement could contribute to not only improved meteorological services but disaster risk reduction through this course", said Mr. KIM Jongseok, Administrator of the KMA.
